Lyme and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

Currently, Lyme disease is not listed in the social security administration's impairment listing manual. We can help move SSDI along. Bundle all your paperwork, make copies, and send it all to your Congress representatives and to your state governor. Write a letter long-hand about the difficulties you face with no money. Write "HELP PLEASE" on the outside of the envelope and mail the envelopes off.

comments from Nancy

David, such good articles.  Thanks
Having read some of Mold Warriers by Shoemaker et al, I see now that my multiple and complex symptoms are part of those shared now my so many Americans and others around the world.  Generally labeled "bio-toxins," they range from all the organisms that have cropped up since the advent of the Industrial Revolution and, most recently, after World War II.  We are bombarded by molds, and diseases which "stayed home" before we all began traveling.

I'll swiftly come to the present, when our children are suffering in the millions from autism, ADHD, and allergies on a scale never seen before.

David, Beth, Dan, Jim, ALL of you need to buy the Vision Contrast Kit which will indicate whether or not you are being poisoned by toxins of any variety. Dad reads, has heard, that it's real easy to use.  You can order one yourself, or quite possibly, your doctor may have one in her/his office.  If anyone wants to research this, or does this, would you put it here on the blog?

David, we mentioned your fatigue to a friend here.  She said to immediately get this kit.  You could well have lyme or some such, and getting a few months' antibiotics WOULD insure that not only would it go away, but you will have taken care of the problem for good.  If you're uncertain, or have questions about the vision, start with asking Dad.  (He needs testing too.)

All the kids too.  It's what we'd like for Christmas!  I hope I'm not annoying you all too much....
Love,
Nancy Mom, or, The Nana

Insightful Books on Lyme and Mold

Insights Into Lyme Disease Treatment: 13 Lyme-Literate Health Care Practitioners Share Their Healing Strategies (Paperback)
Customer Review: Insights Into Lyme Disease Treatment" is tremendous. Imagine having a clear roadmap that explains even a single doctor's ideas on the treatment of Lyme disease. In this book, not one, but thirteen Lyme-literate practitioners clearly spell out their treatment approaches! It would take countless hours and significant dollars to gather the kind of information available in this single book.

Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Customer Review: Mold Warriors contains advanced, sophisticated, effective, state of the art testing and treatment protocols for some of the most perplexing diseases and disorders, confronting medical practices. These protocols treat actual causes of disabling diseases, including Lymes, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Migraine, Irritible Bowel Syndrome, Parkinson's Disease...

Organisms that Produce Biotoxins

"Many biotoxins are neurotoxins in that they adversely affect neurologic function... Our research also suggested that toxins from tick-borne pathogens such as Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease organism) and Babesia microti may cause chronic illness even after the spirochetes or intracellular protozoa (also called apicomplexans) have been killed by antibiotics. People who cannot naturally eliminate biotoxins develop chronic illness. The toxins can be eliminated, however, by using our treatment protocol, and good health can be restored."

Dr. Shoemaker's cholestyramine (CSM) treatment protocol »
Binds mycotoxins through anion exchange, leading to elimination of the toxins.

Dr Steven Boch

Called Dr Steven Boch, because, even though we planned on contacting Dr. Fishman in Rockville, his site, http://www.rhinebeckhealth.com/rhc/lyme.php, and the fact that we just read the new book about about best treatments/doctors LLmD and there was Bock in Reinbeck, NY . His office DID call back! And gave us an appointment on Thurs, October 15, even tho the Dr doesn't usually do Thursdays!! He will only need to see us once or twice, maybe?? and work with local doctor. Boch WILL look at the genetic stuff, but we've found we don't need to do the whole test.

Dad's Research Leads to Surprise Turn

We are making a change in direction, something that came as a surprise, on right on the eve(ning) of mailing back Dr Amy's (not an MD-!) kit.
The following is an email of questions Dad sent to Carol Fisch here.  Her box has been full; she may be out of town.  Her mother is dying.
"Trying to understand the biotoxin pathway chapter in Ritchie Shoemaker's book, Mold Warriors, and relater it to Amy Yasko's nutrigenomic test.  When I read Shoemaker I feel like his description of immune system failure/over-production of cytokines, etc. is probably what Nancy is suffering from.
I imagine her b eing repeatedly poisoned b y Borellia/co-infection/environmental toxins (like mold toxins) ((and like Beth, David, any chronic problems)) that her immune system can't handle.  If that is the "real" problem, then nutrigenomic support is only peripherally important.
I'm thinking that knowing her HLA DR genotype and measuring her C3a, methylation cycle would not "fix" genetic deficiencies in the immune system genotype, and would be a waste of time and money.  Is my reasoning sound?"

We haven't heard from Carol yet.
Additionally, Dad wrote, "Nancy has only got so much tolerance for on going inconvenience (stress of implementing a complex supplement protocol), and no tolerance for increased pain.  Everything we try now has to be outright helpful, or absolutely important to test for."

We've been reading Shoemaker's CSM (cholestyramine) protocol.  We read a new book on top 10 doctors/treatment (Rosner) which profiles, among others, Dr Steven Boch.  It described perfectly all my needs, experience, gene problem possibilities....I asked Bill to call there.  He's in Hyde Park.  He called and we got on a list, with the message that they receive hundreds of calls a day.  So...not much hope there???  OH!!!  We just received a call from Theresa there....PRAY!!  More later...

Linda's Lyme Disease Journal

"Lyme Awareness Art Project was born out of my struggle with Advance Neurological Lyme Disease. I needed to find some way to transcend my own suffering and to give myself a sense of purpose. I was also horrified at the lack of unbiased research that had been done and the often violent clash of opinions in the medical world. Through LAAP I hope to show the faces and stories behind Lyme to raise awareness that more research is desperately needed."

Blog comment (11/04/07):
I lucked out in the doctor department. I have a good and reasonable priced Lyme doctor(LLMD), Dr.Norton Fishman in Rockville. His cost is 375.00 for an hour and a half first time visit, and 140.00 for follow up.Dr. Fishman understands that chronicly ill patients do not always come loaded with money.I didn't have to pay 850.00 to see a good doctor. So to Sick and Tired, I know your frustration because I have come across your same problem but Dude, you don't need to pay 850.00 for your first consult to get well, go to Dr. Fishman if you are in Maryland. He knows about mold, toxins, Lyme, fatigue He's a good dude too, tests for everything. You will get treated well too, no phone games like Shoemaker and his staff are into.I got tired of the nonescence too and then got turned on to Norton Fishman. It was a wait of about 2 and a half months to get in, but without big hurdles to climb over, no games either and well worth the wait.He is a nutritionist too so I am getting my health back and rebuilding my immune system. http://www.mdjunction.com/doctor/norton-l.-fishman/105911
