HLA-Human leukocyte antigen

Had a phone appointment with Dr Bock yesterday. Most of my tests
came out all right, or to be expected. I had a great CD57 count of
198!!! I forget what this is, but maybe Lisa can add that? We'll be
getting copies of all that soon.

But the "Dreaded Phenotype" of HLAgene was 15-6, meaning it's the
worst gene I could have, a gene that will prevent treatment from
working, according to Carol Fisch, our friend here. The doctor was
not so grim; he said it would mean longer, or more difficult,
treatment. It certainly is good to know. Carol had predicted it for
a couple of years. We'll be able to pick now which treatment for
what.....e.g. will HLA prevent me from batting down the
cytomegalovirus? (probably no).....Epstein Barr (Hopefully some)...I
will write up specific questions for our next phone meeting in 4 weeks.

Note: The human leukocyte antigen system (HLA) is the name of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) in humans. The superlocus contains a large number of genes related to immune system function.

XMRV retrovirus in most chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) patients

The discovery of the XMRV retrovirus in most chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) patients appears to be a demarcating point in the history of this illness.

The publication of the study in Science, the most prestigious scientific journal in the world, by a stellar cast of researchers from the National Cancer Institute, the Cleveland Clinic and the Whittemore Peterson Institute prompted a flood of stories across the major media outlets and scientific publications including Nature, Scientific American, the New York Times, (two articles), NPR, Fox News, LA Times, etc.

Amid concerns that the blood supply was contaminated the NIH officials announced they'd already held a conference on the issue. The Whittemore Peterson Institute rapidly conferred a new name for what it believes are a cadre of XMRV diseases - XAND (X Associated Neuroimmune Disease).

Questions were quickly raised concerning prevalence, transmission, testing, treatment, etc. Much is still unknown about this new finding with news coming in almost daily. Please post comments/suggestions to me using the contact box on the above left top of the website pages or at phoenixcfs@gmail.com.

Hot Items! - Be sure to check out the resource section for information on Dr. Peterson's live talk on XMRV at the CFSAC meeting tomorrow. The two videos are particularly helpful and don't miss Hillary Johnson's Op Ed piece in the New York Times called "A case of chronic denial"
These are exciting times indeed.

How Sick Is Your Building?

How Sick Is Your Building...And What Can You Do About It? -Part I

Lyme and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

Currently, Lyme disease is not listed in the social security administration's impairment listing manual. We can help move SSDI along. Bundle all your paperwork, make copies, and send it all to your Congress representatives and to your state governor. Write a letter long-hand about the difficulties you face with no money. Write "HELP PLEASE" on the outside of the envelope and mail the envelopes off.

comments from Nancy

David, such good articles.  Thanks
Having read some of Mold Warriers by Shoemaker et al, I see now that my multiple and complex symptoms are part of those shared now my so many Americans and others around the world.  Generally labeled "bio-toxins," they range from all the organisms that have cropped up since the advent of the Industrial Revolution and, most recently, after World War II.  We are bombarded by molds, and diseases which "stayed home" before we all began traveling.

I'll swiftly come to the present, when our children are suffering in the millions from autism, ADHD, and allergies on a scale never seen before.

David, Beth, Dan, Jim, ALL of you need to buy the Vision Contrast Kit which will indicate whether or not you are being poisoned by toxins of any variety. Dad reads, has heard, that it's real easy to use.  You can order one yourself, or quite possibly, your doctor may have one in her/his office.  If anyone wants to research this, or does this, would you put it here on the blog?

David, we mentioned your fatigue to a friend here.  She said to immediately get this kit.  You could well have lyme or some such, and getting a few months' antibiotics WOULD insure that not only would it go away, but you will have taken care of the problem for good.  If you're uncertain, or have questions about the vision, start with asking Dad.  (He needs testing too.)

All the kids too.  It's what we'd like for Christmas!  I hope I'm not annoying you all too much....
Love,
Nancy Mom, or, The Nana

Insightful Books on Lyme and Mold

Insights Into Lyme Disease Treatment: 13 Lyme-Literate Health Care Practitioners Share Their Healing Strategies (Paperback)
Customer Review: Insights Into Lyme Disease Treatment" is tremendous. Imagine having a clear roadmap that explains even a single doctor's ideas on the treatment of Lyme disease. In this book, not one, but thirteen Lyme-literate practitioners clearly spell out their treatment approaches! It would take countless hours and significant dollars to gather the kind of information available in this single book.

Mold Warriors (Paperback)
Customer Review: Mold Warriors contains advanced, sophisticated, effective, state of the art testing and treatment protocols for some of the most perplexing diseases and disorders, confronting medical practices. These protocols treat actual causes of disabling diseases, including Lymes, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Migraine, Irritible Bowel Syndrome, Parkinson's Disease...

Organisms that Produce Biotoxins

"Many biotoxins are neurotoxins in that they adversely affect neurologic function... Our research also suggested that toxins from tick-borne pathogens such as Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease organism) and Babesia microti may cause chronic illness even after the spirochetes or intracellular protozoa (also called apicomplexans) have been killed by antibiotics. People who cannot naturally eliminate biotoxins develop chronic illness. The toxins can be eliminated, however, by using our treatment protocol, and good health can be restored."

Dr. Shoemaker's cholestyramine (CSM) treatment protocol »
Binds mycotoxins through anion exchange, leading to elimination of the toxins.
